Somehow, Thanksgiving is already just around the corner! Can you even believe it?!
Thanksgiving is the one holiday that our household actually hosts. I’m not really a big hosting person, but it ended up this way and I actually really love it.
My side of the family had always done a big get together with my dads extra large family. He is one of 6, so it was always really big. But as everyone is getting older, and my dad and all his sibling are grandparents, the families each started kind of doing their own thing. So I ended up taking over ours!
It’s definitely nothing super fancy, but I love making it look cute and being able to make it memorable and enjoyable for everyone!
It’s usually about 8-10 people so I can use our normal table – but I have grabbed some folding tables and put table clothes over it before for sure.
Side Note: You’ll notice throughout the blog post two different houses in my photos. This is not because I’m using other peoples photos – they are actually all my own. We just moved super super recently and I have a lot of content from our old house. We did an entire floor to ceiling remodel in that home and absolutely loved it! We are currently living in a temporary place until we either build something or find our next reno house!
I try to do incorporate something fun and creative each year that I can put away and use next year. That way eventually and over the years I end up getting great little decor pieces to put together!
I found these cute little pumpkin place card holders at Hobby Lobby – but there are some super cute and very similar ones on Amazon PUMPKIN PLACE CARD HOLDERS (which makes it super easy to just order quickly!) The Hobby Lobby ones had a green stem which didn’t go with my color scheme, so I ended up painting it black. These Amazon ones, have a cute gold stem which would work great instead of painting it too!
I have some super colorful and fun wine glasses that i ABSOLUTELY LOVE and I don’t really get to use them often. So I opt to use them as my water glasses at Thanksgiving so that they are included and part of the table setting. My aunt used to always use wine glasses at Thanksgiving growing up, so I guess I’m continuing that 🙂
My wine glasses are the Estelle Colored glasses from Anthropologie. I was actually very fortunate to receive them as gifts – as they are quite pricey. But I have a friend who got these dupes and they are so great! She absolutely loves them and they were a fraction of the cost! They are actually a little more fall colored too, so they would work perfect for the season. COLOR SAVANT WINE GLASSES
I got these out to match up my paint colors so that it would all tie together when the table was set!
Then I got some small paint brushes and just started making little brush strokes on each pumpkin. I started with one color, and made a few strokes on each pumpkin. Went to the next color and repeat! I started off timid, and ended up going back over each color a couple times to really fill out the whole pumpkin.
I saved the metallic gold for last until everything dried. I wanted to make sure it didn’t get mixed in the other colors. Then went through each pumpkin and added just a few little touches of gold. I think that really finished it out and made it pop!
My dishes are not fall looking, so I needed to add something to help be in season, but also match with my dished and colors. I think it really did the trick and I am SO EXCITED to set the whole table for Thanksgiving this year!!
The whole thing probably took about 30 minutes. It was a super easy and quick project that made the table setting really work and feel unique to the season!
I’ve included some free little printable place cards that you can print out and use with your pumpkins! I created this to be able to use without names. I don’t like to tell everyone where to sit, but I think the place card adds so much to the table setting – so I love this idea!
